"Demonstrating the Inter-Herd Transmission of Actinobacillus Pleuropneumoniae Infection by Epidemiological and Molecular Methods"

چکیده
The eradication programme of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) from pig herds, approved also by the competent veterinary authorities European Union, has been in progress Hungary since 2014 (Nemes, et al. [1-3]) One most effective, safest fastest methods is depopulation–repopulation method.

Indirect transmission of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
orcine pleuropneumonia is caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. This organism is thought to be transmitted mainly through direct contact, usually after asymptomatic carrier pigs are introduced into a herd. The possibility of indirect transmission has only occasionally been raised.1,2 Nicolet reported that the source of infection in Swiss specific-pathogen-free (SPF) herds was often unknown...
متن کاملAssociation between transmission rate and disease severity for Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae infection in pigs
A better understanding of the variation in infectivity and its relation with clinical signs may help to improve measures to control and prevent (clinical) outbreaks of diseases. Here we investigated the role of disease severity on infectivity and transmission of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, a bacterium causing respiratory problems in pig farms. We carried out transmission experiments with 1...
متن کاملGarlic reduces effect of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae infection in pigs
Lung diseases in pigs are among the most important health problem in pig husbandry, and generally treated with antimicrobials. To reduce the amount of antimicrobials used in pigs, we tested the preventive effects of freeze dried garlic added to feed on an infection with Actinobacilluspleuropneumoniae (APP). Thirty male pigs of about seven weeks of age were aerosol challenged with APP serotype 2...
متن کاملActinobacillus pleuropneumoniae disease and serology
Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is a primary bacterial pathogen causing swine respiratory disease and has been described in most major swine-producing regions of the world. Preliminary diagnosis of A. pleuropneumoniae is based on clinical signs and gross pneumonic lesions. Isolating and identifying the causative bacteria confirms the diagnosis. Twelve serotypes of A. pleuropneumoniae and a numb...
متن کاملSerological characterisation of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
In the most recent study on the serological characterisation of Australian isolates of A pleuropneumoniae, a large percentage of isolates either gave cross-reactions with serovars 3 and 6 (47/256 isolates) or no reaction at all (91/256 isolates).11 This study was performed using slide agglutination and GD, techniques which had performed effectively in the past.5 The high incidence of isolates t...
